BRIAN FOOTE
I was born in Washington D.C. and lived in the Pacific Northwest. I began drawing in the sixties and painting in the seventies. A pencil drawing of Venus de Milo was exhibited at the Wadsworth Athenaeum in Hartford, Connecticut. I attended college in Colorado. I studied at the Prado in Madrid, Spain. I was present at one of the last sightings of the late Salvador Dali at his museum in Figures, Spain. My work has been exhibited at the News Gallery, The Hassel-Haesler Gallery, the Wynkoop Brewery, Acquisitions at the Denver Design Center, The Collection and the Ron Chespak Gallery in addition to being in private collections. I studied with Colorado notables including the late John Fudge, Charles Moone, Gene Mathews and Sandra Kaplan. I graduated with BA.’s in Studio Art and Art History. In addition I am comrades in art with the late Mel Carter, international artist Martha Daniels, the late Taos artist Earl Stroh and San Francisco artist Celia Rabinovich. I currently reside in Palm Springs and Colorado and work in large multimedia canvases. I have been a contributor to “Art Against Aids” in Denver since the first auction in 1987. I was a contributor in the last two Steve Chase Galas in Palm Springs. My work is “Figurative Abstraction”. My imagery is figurative and recognizable without using Illusionism or Photorealism.
